About the Breed
Weimaraners ARE a special breed! It's why we love them. The Weimaraner Standard describes the breed temperament as friendly, fearless, alert, and obedient, but this is only half of their personality. Assertive, bold, loyal, and headstrong also fit, giving the dog a loving attitude with a willingness to take the upper paw in the family if the opportunity presents itself.

Originating from the Weimar region of Germany around 150 years ago, weimaraners were bred to be hunting dogs while also being house dogs, something that was new at the time. Expect loyal dogs with energy in spades and a strong prey drive but they also need attention and care. Because of their sporting nature, be prepared for lots of walks and outdoor time. Despite their desire to be on beds and couches these are not sedentary companions.
